Hi everyone, checking in tonight from Canberra! I had a great flight from Port Macquarie this morning, but did have to wait for the fog to burn off before I could take to the skies for the three hour trip to our nation’s capital.
I was met at the airport by one of my amazing patient’s, Brandon. I have known Brandon since he was four years old, he is now a fine young man of eighteen years! Brandon and his family would make the trek from Canberra to the RCH every three to six months to see me. It has been a very long, cherished and special friendship.
After a bit of sightseeing around Canberra, we enjoyed lunch together at the incredible National Museum of Australia and then made our way to the family home for a relaxing afternoon. Here, I got to see Brandon’s much talked about ‘Man Cave’ and it really was wonderful for me to see Brandon in his home environment having heard so much about it all these years.
We chatted about lots of stuff including one of Brandon’s favourite movies like Dumb and Dumber — who doesn’t love Jim Carrey? Thanks so much Brandon, Carolyn, Laurie and all the family for your generous hospitality and more, your friendship and support of Fly for the Kids. Please know how much I appreciate all you did today to make our time together memorable and extra special.
Tonight I’m enjoying the luxurious surrounds of my room here at Rydges Capital Hill. Thanks so much for having me stay guys, 10/10! I’m working on my flight plan for tomorrow’s trip to Bairnsdale where I’m catching up with another wonderful patient of mine, Olivia.
It is going to be another HUGE day so I think it’s time to bid you all goodnight and hit the hay myself. Sweet dreams all, will check in again tomorrow from Bairnsdale.
Only four more sleeps and I will be home. I still can’t quite believe it!
